Hi Mick I don't see the recycling of "shorted" coils in schematic Hector put up. Can you re-describe from oanother angle? Is the short the brush on left creates law it bridges adjacent commutaor segments? Kone, Yes the left brush bridges while the right is normal, at least if I read the schematic properly it looks like it shorts the winding. It also looks as if the phase is off either 90 or 180 via this brush too so again unless I am totally misinterpreting each shorted coil becomes a momentary subjective rf antenna per Hectors current phase rule. If the idea is to get the N spike it seems the winding would require shorting to saturate the core from passing a magnet as the rest of the design raises impedance so its like a low impedance to high pump also. Actually pretty fricken genuis if I am not pissing in the wind. Hi Curt DELTA is to string the individual phases in series, WYE is to have them all connect in common end so lets say 3 phases in motor; A TO B PH1 C TO D PH2 E TO F. PH3 WYE: Input wire to A Another input wire to C Another input wire to E Outs of B,D,G all connect together Rotovertor type of wiring is WYE But power input goes to only A and C While capacitor bridges from C to E This might.help a little bit to understand Hector better...2nd brushes to capture backemf recoil another subject... Kone, I guess the man H just explained it, yes that is what I meant by the passing magnet to short one coil pole dumps enough flux to saturate the core as its a low impedance current shunt, as normally a motor is not designed to saturate like a magneto core but by shorting a single pole this is the idea. OK glad I was onto what Hector meant and not spinning out. This is a design to derive power from Norms Neutral Spike in a way that will be more kind as long as the diodes hold out. Depending on the motor and the magnets would likely limit the poss speed prior to the rf energy arcing across the commutator segments. Mick, first envision a North-South magnetic poles embedded in flywheel. When the North-South magnets bridge the first two poles of the stator (rotation) a forward going current is induced into iron core coil and at same time charges up condenser to max. Important note here is that the impedance of coil is LC matched to the value of the condenser. When the North-South magnets move over to the middle and last poles, breaker points open and at same time a reverse current is being induced into the iron core coil with the reverse polarity, the condenser discharges through coil windings to frame ground. With the condenser being charged via the forward going current, 1st step, when it discharges into coil a reverse current is being induced by moving magnets. In effect you have opposing currents, opposite polarity, (BUCKING-OPPOSED) which cause a miniature magnetic flux annihilation event and a MAGNETO-ELECTRIC, micro EMP event. That is the reason the old magnetos had such a powerful spark even when you turned them by hand at super low RPM. I worked on thousands of them on my magneto test bench. When the Breaker points open, it leaves the condenser in series with saturated coil with a reverse polarity current opposed to the reverse induction of the magnets moving past pole two and three. The open circuit and opposite charges cancel the magnetic flux resulting in the Magneto-electric pulse. If the points were adjusted wrong timing wise did they sometimes vaporize? I was not aware the old design was so cutting edge now that we are on to solar flare dynamo theory.
