HectorThe Acadia gas engine Works in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, made a two stroke dory engine, for over seventy- five years, that had the mechanical switch for a large solenoid coil, located right inside the combustion chamber. The actual contact points of this switch were made from a four inch common nail, sawn down, and riveted in place in a little hammer and anvil arrangement, that was driven, and tripped, by an external cam off the flywheel. The entire electrical circuit is powered by a single carbon zinc square 6 volt lantern battery, that lasted an entire commercial fishing season.Wait a second! A dead short, through a solenoid coil, then opening, causing a big, hot, spark, inside the combustion chamber of the cylinder using a weenie low 6 volt voltage wire from outside?Imagine being on the Grand Banks, being periodically swept with freezing salt spray, and the engine reliably going chunka, chunka, never missing a beat, the only thing between you, and the storm swept, open, grey North Atlantic. The fishermen kept buying these engines for 75 years. The coil could even be home made.It is a simple form of the Bedini coil, only a single strand of solenoid wound wire, wrapped around a bundle of soft iron wire, with a pine wood disc at each end to make the spool. A layer of sailor's marline whipping ties all the wire together before the copper wire went on.On the earlier versions, the bare copper wire was wound with oakum, or hemp, twisted around the copper, perhaps on a spinning wheel. The whole arrangement was then placed in a vat of linseed oil, allowing it to soak completely in, saturating every space.I was able to see these home spun works of art, visiting fishing chanties, in Newfoundland, in the Seventies. So, power the coil with 6 volts DC, and, at the switch contacts, when you open the circuit, there is a big, hot spark. There is that spark again!Don Smith, Kapanadze, Nauden, Zilano, and also our Hector, and Doug Kone messing about with sparks, and arcs! Can they be our little window to Quantum physics energy production?Cjeers Warren

If you short a coil current becomes maximal voltage stays lag at zero upon max core saturation , then at short cut off ,voltage becomes leading and maximal as current drop to zero ... basic RF neutral spike dynamics !
feed it a reverse potential as voltage is maximal peaking and you have a mother of an EMP neutral spike on your hands !
(H) other methods are applicable ,,, rotary is best for simplicity ,

Hi Mick
"would require shorting to saturate the core from passing a magnet"
Did you mean:
"would require shorting to saturate the core from a passing magnet" ?
I don't know something else?
Also wouldn't a shorted coil become rf transmitter not so much an antenna?
Anyways still confused but just half way confused now..
