Hi Mick,

Traditionally factories having high inductive reactive power puts capacitor loads to force back the power factor closer to active power. I.e. power factor closer to one. Now many motors are controlled by frequency controllers. Such electronic devices must have power factor correction in them. If having low power factor at high power you are billed for that as it wastes energy in heating the wires. Modern smart energy meters do measure reactive power and even communicates with the power distribution companies to better be able to keep the grid stable. Many houses deliver power back to the grid by their free energy solar panels. In this country (DK) with lots of wind turbines the grid has proven itself stable even when running the whole country on only wind power during days with much wind. I think this is attributed to a smart grid with communication between the wind turbines. No more power must be made than is being consumed to prevent the frequency of the grid in changing. During 24 hours this account must fit.

Regards
Ole

Hi Mick,

I'm not sure I follow. If you mean one phased motors having a help or start winding this winding has a capacitor in series to make a phase shifted current. The big motors are three phased. For two speeds the pole pair number is changed. For reducing the start current the motor is started in star connection and switched to delta connection. I.e. the voltage is changed across the motor windings.

The inductance of the motor windings is what makes the power reactive. At high load the power becomes more active. It's like a transformer without any load. This acts like an inductor which has lagging reactive power. The current lags the voltage. When loading the transformer its secondary induces an opposite directed magnetic field which cancels the magnetic field of the primary coil. This makes the power become resistive or active or real.

Ole

Ole, I was referring to the old style motors that require a certain amount of active on the grid. There are still a lot of those in factories with the tapped winding's for two speed operation like the old lathe motors. My understanding, which may be incorrect as I never worked in distribution, is that AC induction motors require some reactive power to run properly notwithstanding the lagging PF they add themselves.

Hi Dave I now have all the bits together to make a replication of your experiment.I had difficulty, believe it , or not, getting a 100 watt incandescent bulb. I was however, able to get 40 watt bulbs used for inside ovens.I am going to wire 3 sockets in parallel, for up to 120 Watts.First: what are your thoughts on this? After some difficulty, I did get a rotary dimmer made by Eaton, for incandescent lights.Everything has gone to LEDs and digital controls.Your illustration of the circuit seems very good to me, but I am uncertain about your method. What procedure did you use to start this device up?Would you kindly list the start up steps for me, and what voltage, or percentage should be on the Variac dial? What setting should the dimmer be at, remembering you did smoke yours, and what would you more prudently do now?Thank you very kindly for your help, Cheers Warren Keillor

Warren,

Would you like to move onto the Vibration2EM site, and we can work on this out of the main flow over here? Our posts are likely getting in the way of the rotoverter work that is the main focus here.
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Vibration2em/info

When and if we get all the correct parameters, we can then make a public document. The Romex tunning stub is taped down to the bench and when the correct lengths are determined we can cut it and use it to start the field working without all the tunning problems. At that point anyone will be able to build one and have it work right off.

Netflix has a video out now called "Bob Lazar  Area 51 & Flying Saucers" He describes the field that repells all matter, which is a diamagnetic field that repells both poles of all magnetic fields. He said you cannot stick your hand through it. Element 115 is one magnitude above Bismuth for diamagnetic qualities.Good movie, first time I saw it.

Hi Mick
Homeless type fuck- ups are not thrown in prison here in Belarus. They aree immediately taken off street put into hospitals for mentally ill as they have those here still.they were never closed down like in USA. Being socialist, amd not spending trilliond on wars and miliyary.lije usa, homes are cbeap, my wife just sbowed me cure concrete home outside of minsk by river fo 15k!! There is no unemployment here, if you don't work they give you job shoveling snow racking leaves sweeping sidewalks hauling shit etc ( public works programs also shut down in usa) in fact if you are unemployed they make you pay a tax here! Opposite of USA.
Who are in jail are teiives, drug dealers and users (11 years for weed...they dont have alcohol and drug treatment cemyets here you do something stupid your excuse is .not being drunk or on pills you go to ducking jail) and interesting anyone who has a bard-on for packing a gun goes to jail. It is the unthinkable to carry a gun here as you will go to jail. I like it l!! Out of control in USA since everybody does carry a gun already you need one to stay protected from neighbors not so in belarus it's very safe in streets.
.metbod of subduing criminals is not 5 cop card 12 cops pointing guns o tazers but instead big wood stick on head. Families important here people take care of parents if old parents left alone they have program where social services come by every other day check in see how it's going get them medicine etc. It's free too...

Why Do We Need Reactive Power?

  * Reactive power (VARS) is required to maintain the voltage to deliver
active power (watts) through transmission lines.
  * *Motor loads and other loads require reactive power to convert the
flow of electrons into useful work.*
  * When there is not enough reactive power, the voltage sags down and
it is not possible to push the power demanded by loads through the
    lines.

Kone, Somehow they do all that with a much lower tax rate than here,
government is much smaller besides no military.  Sounds like they have
their shit together over there but their homicide rate per 100k is the
same as many US states.  All we would have to do to improve things up
here is make drug testing mandatory for anyone on welfare, and job
training mandatory, but all the politicians are getting money to sell
our jobs off to China.  They want homeless people here as a talking
point and dividing tactic, very sad but obvious it's encouraged by free
phones and food cards for loafers.  It would cost much less to open up
the nuthouses again.

Unfortunately, without a large country supporting a military in order to
patrol the oceans there would be no international trade due to piracy.
If one looks at the US before and after the petroleum industry went
outside the country this is one of the worst things to happen here, next
worst thing is private prisons for profit.

Down in Laguna where a relative lives the homeboys are coming down from
Compton and running home invasions where they sometimes tie up and rape
women at knifepoint or just kill everyone.  Not everybody can afford a
security detail.  I would not live there without protection or anywhere
else, would not want to be powerless if some creeps are creeping.
Sapiens are not advanced enough to not attack each other for baubles
yet.  Lots of shit like the Manson murders goes on right now but it's
not in the news, just like they stopped reporting drive bys here.  Back
when the cocaine import agency brought crack to America they were on the
news every day.  In the UK there are acid attacks every day and
thousands of people being stabbed to death, not reported.  I love
America but have serious issue with the US corp, the New Deal should
have been repealed after the bankruptcy, they let it run and it has
fucked everyone here.  No income tax here before the Fed, it was sold to
punish the one per-centers in 1913.

What happened in the mid to late 90s over there with the inflation going
crazy?  Seems like they have a very sane monetary controls now though.

Ole,

OK as usual great description, but I understand all of that and the use
of a level reactive power in a transmission line is more efficient from
the voltage transmission optimization, however I do not grock the claim
concerning the inductive motors requiring > reactive over real and if so
why.

Hi Mick,

There are two types of reactive power having different sign (capacitive and inductive power). When they are equal they cancel out each other like in an LC-tank during resonance. The capacitive reactive power then cancels the inductive reactive power leaving only the true or active or real power. During resonance the voltage or current is be increased. At parallel resonance the voltage is increased while the current to/from the LC-tank is decreased. The current between the capacitor and inductor in the tank is also increased during parallel resonance. Only the external current to the tank decreases. Thus having the compensating reactive power close to the device creating the reactive power prevents excess current in the line feeding the device and its reactive power compensation. This makes the line waste less power in resistive heating without increasing the cross sectional area of the wires.

Ole

Why Do We Need Reactive Power? Reactive power (VARS) is required to maintain the voltage to deliver active power (watts) through transmission lines. Motor loads and other loads require reactive power to convert the flow of electrons into useful work. When there is not enough reactive power, the voltage sags down and it is not possible to push the power demanded by loads through the lines. On 7/5/2019 4:00 PM, onielsen@... mailto:onielsen@...

Hi Mick,

I haven't heard before that inductive motors require reactive power. Unloaded they create inductive reactive power which is compensated by capacitive reactive power. Hector compensates reactive power with the rotoverter.to prevent reactive power in the grid. I haven't seen proof of it self-running as claimed and haven't done experiments with it. It would be interesting if somebody would do the measurements with proper instruments being able to measure the different types of power.

Ole

 Ole,
OK as usual great description, but I understand all of that and the use of a level reactive power in a transmission line is more efficient from the voltage transmission optimization, however I do not grock the claim concerning the inductive motors requiring > reactive over real and if so why.

Hi Warren, Dave,

Here is a video showing capacitive coupled current lighting LEDs when supposed to be off:
The cheap Chinese bulb that won't turn off (10:26): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uEmX5XClPY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uEmX5XClPY
Also see the video referred to at the end of this video.

Dave is the circuit capacitive or inductive coupled to one or more wires of the house installation like in the above video? I mean does it work if having its own earth ground away from the cables of the house? Tariel Kapanadze demonstrates different devices that are self-running after start-up. The devices are having two earth groundings spaced apart.

Hi Dave I now have all the bits together to make a replication of your experiment.
I had difficulty, believe it , or not, getting a 100 watt incandescent bulb. I was however, able to get 40 watt bulbs used for inside ovens.
I am going to wire 3 sockets in parallel, for up to 120 Watts.
First: what are your thoughts on this?
After some difficulty, I did get a rotary dimmer made by Eaton, for incandescent lights.
Everything has gone to LEDs and digital controls.
Your illustration of the circuit seems very good to me, but I am uncertain about your method.
What procedure did you use to start this device up?
Would you kindly list the start up steps for me, and what voltage, or percentage should be on the Variac dial?
What setting should the dimmer be at, remembering you did smoke yours, and what would you more prudently do now?
Thank you very kindly for your help, Cheers Warren Keillor

   Warren,

Would you like to move onto the Vibration2EM site, and we can work on this out of the main flow over here?
Our posts are likely getting in the way of the rotoverter work that is the main focus here.

Element 115 is one magnitude above Bismuth for diamagnetic qualities.
Good movie, first time I saw it.

Hi OleThose are certainly good questions.Let's look, and try different combinations. That is what testing is all about.I have miles of space around here, to explore various grounding situations.Perhaps steel  fence posts,
and fences, in the back fields behind the barns?I could set up a little table there, with a lead acid battery, and inverter to start the device going, and perhaps rely on the quality of the ground to make the apparatus work?I don't know.I also have an old windmill water pump, taken down, but the galvanized steel pipes are still there in the ground. They should be a decent ground too.The grid is not very pervasive around the farm.I have run, on occasion, my heavy dock cords used on the boat from various panels to outer barns to turn on a light, or power a tool.Cheers Warren

Hi Warren, Dave,

Here is a video showing capacitive coupled current lighting LEDs when supposed to be off:
The cheap Chinese bulb that won't turn off (10:26): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uEmX5XClPY

Ole
