Hi All - Question

Has any one here used pulse modulations on the motors you are playing with?

I always wanted to try a pi / 2 ratio between two different pulse trains on a motor.
I don't know if you can pulse the stator and rotor separatly to achieve this, but you would need two different frequencies to mix in order to set up a self sustaining form of vibraiton on the motor.

The vibration energy is contained in the direction of motion vector, and is not per say electrical, although it can come from electrical modulation at 90 degrees to both.

With an AC field however the field is in rotation.

Also wanted to point out that I have observed in my experiments, vibration resonance has nothing to do with EM resonance althrough they can be coupled at 2 times the AC waves frequency.

 ------------------------------------

We can also set up an 89 / 50 vibration ratio around a spinning mass to lower it's resistance to acceleration.
That is a ratio a bit larger then pi / 2.

 Pi / 2 = 1.5707963 ...

 89 / 50 = 1.78

 Thanks all for reading,

Perhaps a Link ? Or Post Number?
I would be interested in your expression of depth of understandings of what energy, frequency and vibrations is about.

Hi Dave,

"I always wanted to try a pi / 2 ratio between two different pulse trains on a motor.I don't know if you can pulse the stator and rotor separatly to achieve this,..."
Nikola Tesla in one of his patents describes how to run a motor on two different frequencies: https://teslauniverse.com/nikola-tesla/patents/us-patent-390721-dynamo-electric-machine https://teslauniverse.com/nikola-tesla/patents/us-patent-390721-dynamo-electric-machine

By vibration resonance do you mean mechanical resonance? For a complete AC oscillation (one cycle) energy or power has double the exciting frequency. I.e. magnetizing first in one direction followed by magnetization in the opposite direction. If the mechanical resonance is double that of the AC frequency it will resonate at double the AC frequency. Think of it as the hum of mains power transformers (magnetostriction of iron in transformers). If the mechanical resonant frequency is at this frequency and coupled to it it will resonate (or vibrate) at this frequency.

Ole

Ole,

Thank you for that info, I had not seen that one before. Running the two rotating fields in opposing directions! The motors RPMs can be greatly accelerated.

Yes, when a power line arcs on a power pole it produces a 120 Hz signature, showing there are two places on the wave that have actual power, and the thing with vibration energy, it can not tell them apart so well. So it is possible to take the vibration from the positive side of the sine wave and feed it back to the negative side to reinforce it. It will not short out the field.

Here is an experiment I did many years back, and was afraid to share it.
This document is an attempt to understand the how and why it worked.

IbraVery interesting!I am at this time working on a Samsung washing machine motor that is three phase brushless DC running on pulsed high voltageI have not a clue why it should work, but several credible people have experienced a boost in hp up from .9 to 18.5hp, yet only consuming 700 wattsSomething weird is going on, and I am trying to replicate it.I have fastened the motor to a 2.6 low generator shaft.Next , I am trying the drive the mo1tor, using a programmable  Arduino , and controller interfaceCircuit.Still working on the feedback circuit from the coils, to the Arduino.

Hi Dave,

"Here is an experiment I did many years back, and was afraid to share it. This document is an attempt to understand the how and why it worked.

http://www.resonantfractals.org/V2EM/100watt.html http://www.resonantfractals.org/V2EM/100watt.html"

The light dimmer is hard switching on the current at some given voltage (positive and negative) of the mains sine voltage. This generates a lot of harmonics which is of high frequency (HF) if there is no filter to short out these frequencies. Also diodes give off HF when switching off depending on the type used. The slow mains frequency diodes generate lots of HF because of the slow reverse recovery of that kind of diodes. The diodes have a brief moment conducting in reverse before actually blocking the current. This is the reverse recovery time of diodes which is very noisy. Thus there are at least two sources of radio frequency generators at play.

I don't understand how an air cored autotransformer for mains frequency is possible. It must be very big or have extremely many turns of wire to have enough inductance for the low frequency of the grid.

I guess no measurements have been done with proper instruments like an oscilloscope or something else to detect HF of the circuit. The circuit reminds me of this self-running HF charger: https://oldoctober.com/en/fuelless_generator/ https://oldoctober.com/en/fuelless_generator/. This circuit uses the obsolete tunnel diodes as switches. They can generate even microwaves.

What is the Romex tuning stub?

Ole

DaveThank you for this experiment.I think it is very interesting, and I would like to try replicating it.I have Variacs,( auto transformers) in every size up to 30 amps, and a great underground galvanized pipe that runs to an old well for at least 200 feet, to use for a ground. It seems absolutely crazy that it should work, being so simple, and apparently straight forward.100 watt light bulbs are becoming a rare and endangered species, here in Ontario. I have stock piled plenty of legal 40watt bulbs though, from the Dollar store, to use for experiments. I use a power bar and two pin to Edison light bulb adapters as test loads.Should I run into difficulties, I hope you won't mind steering me in the right direction.Cheers Warren(Canada)

DaveWhat make and model of auto transformer did you use?Other than using a magnet on the windings of the coil, to check for iron in the core, perhaps a simple replication of your apparatus would be helpful to get the best results.Cheers Warren

Dave L

Hey DaveThat's great! I can do it, I think, as I am pretty sure one of mine will do just fine.
What about the dimmer, what brand is it, in case there is magic lurking there?I do want to get as close to what you did as possible, because should I get it to work, it will be pretty nifty, and a lot less trouble than Samsung motor generator combos.( and quieter)Cheers Warren

Warren,

Unfortunately the lamp dimmer burned up on the third trial out. It was the smallest one they had back then.
I replaced it but never worked on this again.

Looks like the Autotransformer likely does have an iron core of some kind, don't know why I thought that when I took it all apart back then. I do remember the toroidal width of the coil inside it is 4" outside diameter.

Most all these component concepts came from Floyd Sweets diagrams, and videos.

Hi Dave
In simplified nutshell, electrons do not just move back and forth in a wire for AC current.
This proven by fact in an electrical accident there is a choice of being hurled across room, or burned severley, this choice according to if neg or pos peak you get hit by.
So there is a 90 degree to current flow attraction force and a repelling force that can be felt in A.C. current. You calling a vibration and it has a particular frequency related to the electrical flow frequency.
So you want to identify exactly where the repel force is, where the attract force manifest in for example s 6ft long section of exposed house wire.
You need a load of 100w at least to sense and identify and pinpoint this sucking in, or blowing out energy in very particular points along that 6feet of exposed wire.
This energy is not blocked by diodes. But the electron flow is so you use a fwbr to convert connect and combine the two kinds vibrational energy you feel into a reinforced dc electron flow that self dustains from the un-dampened vibration that will vibrate forever, unless intentionally stopped.
Halfway good so far?
Can holding small magnet in fingers help to identify those nodal points of vibratory energy possibly?

Hi Dave,

The diode BYT03 https://www.bucek.name/pdf/byt03.pdf is an ultrafast recovery diode having reverse recovery time of 25ns. They generate less reverse current than slow diodes.

The experiments done on live mains are potentially dangerous. Instead of using just a variac autotransformer an isolation variac must be used or at least a separation transformer must be used. The capacitors between live parts and ground must be class Y safety capacitors (https://blog.capacitorfaks.com/safety-rated-capacitors/ https://blog.capacitorfaks.com/safety-rated-capacitors/).

Instead of feeling the voltage by sliding fingers on live parts use an AC voltmeter or even better an oscilloscope.

In the following circuit from here http://www.resonantfractals.org/Levitation/Tensor.htm http://www.resonantfractals.org/Levitation/Tensor.htm the Joe Cell is charged when both PB switches are closed. The three diodes in series with the Joe Cell discharges the plates of the Joe Cell through the lamp when the voltage across the lamp gets below the voltage of the Joe Cell. This happens each time the AC voltage crosses the neutral voltage.

The reason for the lamp getting brighter in the next figure from the same page shown below is probably because of HF generated by the lamp dimmer. The HF is damped by the inductance of the loops formed by the circuit wires. By connecting yet a separate wire to ground the impedance (inductance) of the wire loop is decreased to let through more HF current to the lamp. This is my guess. A measurement could confirm or deny that. Or carefully lay out the wires such that the extra ground wire follows the same path and length as the neutral and groud wires. I.e. minimize any loops formed as they have inductance which has high impedance at high frequency.

Regards
Ole

Hi Warren,

What is this Romex and where to get it?

Light dimmer circuit (https://www.digikey.com/en/articles/techzone/2012/jul/home-lighting-controllers-offer-dimming-compatibility https://www.digikey.com/en/articles/techzone/2012/jul/home-lighting-controllers-offer-dimming-compatibility):

Here is a circuit with some component values:

Let's see what we can do with these things, and once working , get the young egg heads in, to try to noodle it out, why it works.
So now, let's get some working!
Okay guys, wake up! Break time is over. It is time to polish up your Variac, and break the bank, buying six feet of Romex, and a bunch of old fashioned, incandescent light bulbs, before they are out of stock.
 Thanks to Dave
 Cheers Warren

The diodes are - Mouser pn 511-BYT03-400 [ 3 Amp 400 volt ultra fast damper ]
