Five women were killed and several others were injured after a gunman opened fire with a hunting rifle on people leaving a church service in Russia's Dagestan region on Sunday, Russian media outlets reported.
                                                                                                                                                                            
The shooting unfolded outside a church in Kizlyar, a town of about 50,000 people on the border with Chechnya. The Russian news agency TASS cited Svetlana Petrenko of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation as the source for the number of people killed and wounded. 
                                                                                                                          
The Islamic State terror network claimed responsibility, according to its Amaq media agency. ISIS said the killer was a "soldier of the caliphate," a man known as Khalil al-Dagestani, The New York Times reported.
                                                      							                                                                                              
The gunman was shot dead by police responding to the scene, a law enforcement source told the Interfax news agency. According to Interfax, the gunman has been identified as a local man in his early 20s.
                                                                                                                          
"People were leaving a church after an evening service when he opened gunfire at them," Shuvalov told TASS. Two police officers and a woman were among the wounded, according to Shuvalov. One woman later died at a hospital, a law enforcement source told RIA Novosti.

DougYou have put the problem up of the sick paranoia that has been installed in the American culture for many decades.It is true that the dramas that are acted out on screens keep using conflict resolution tools involving machines that spout fire, noise,that virtually turn bad guys inside out.Bad guys? Oh, how clear it is made who the " bad guys" are. There is not much in the way of self analysis, anger management, or any emotional tools of an emotionally mature culture.Power keeps being focused on weapons, as if they are the only solution to life's little conflicts.I really worry about the damage caused by video "games" to growing personalities, where the division between reality, and a creepy fictional world becomes very blurred.Those bully kids at the end of the hall, with mean things to say, become the monsters to be vanquished with a piece of hardware, just like in your "game"That kind of damage just gets worse and spirals into a court system prison system, and ruined lives that in itself becomes a new system of, us, and them, with otherness as the key feature.It never focuses on ourselves as a source of the problem, or contributing in any way to perpetuating how situations work out.We actually can change how the story unwinds by stepping back and working with friends and neighbours to first form a community looking after everyone, instead of separating and killing those we don't happen to appreciate at the moment.Cheers Warren

Hello Ole, Warren, Douglas and all,

Yesterday I experimented again with the Tranverter and found that you can watch the diode plug well synonymous of the input sine on the coupling capacitors on the diode connector page well.

The thyristors discharge very fast because there is nothing to improve even with 500 watts of load purely resistive load as a light bulb.

But you can modulate the signal from there as a sine well with the adjustable ignition of the thyristors. So that one receives short empty steps and lo and behold the input power decreases despite full luminosity at the output.

I wonder, can you load these spikes of the Pushpull transformer via a FWBR directly into a battery?

I tried to connect a 2 transformer in parallel but the impedance is so high despite a short circuited secondary that the thyristors can not turn off.

Then I switched 2 of the transformers on the primary side in parallel, then it just happened. It's pretty hard to work that way, it would be nicer if you can shut down the SCR appropriately, but they are almost indestructible to an IGBT or Mosfet. I also do not think that an IGBT can stand the high current increase unless it is pulsing fast.

What about Hector, is he swallowed up from the ground?
I feel that general topics are being relayed and project related information is not arriving. Somehow I have the feeling there is already method behind it.

I don't know if I understand this correct. Is the current through the inductor reaching zero for some part of the cycle? If so this is discontinuous mode and is required for the SCRs to turn off. This also prevents generating flyback pulses as all the energy of the chokes is use up.

If the impedance of the battery matches the source it probably will work. Else a transformer has to step up or down the tension for a better match.

SCRs don't generate flyback voltages as they don't turn off before the current through them have reached close to zero Amps. MOSFETs can turn off very fast which gives huge flyback voltages that will kill the MOSFETs without a snubber protection or a capacitor or something else to catch the stored inductive energy being released. It's best that the energy goes to the output load which means the output load must match the power level at play. Thus if power at 1kW is dissipated the load must be able to absorb that power at a voltage below what the MOSFET can tolerate.

A switched mode power supply usually has a controller to make the output voltage or current stay within some wanted parameters despite changing the impedance of the load. This can be done by controlling the duty cycle. Some of these supplies won't work without a minimum load at the output.

SvenIt may be that Hector has found local electrical work as there is still not much electricity in his country. People are desperate in places with no light, or refrigeration, according to information that leaks out, here to Canada.I have used 300 volt DC spikes to charge 12 volt lead acid batteries directly.However, the spikes were nearly zero amps.Do you have a voltage reading of how much voltage the spikes are delivering?You know my preferance for rectifying to dc, then causing motors to turn. If the voltage is too high, put more motors in series. To test amperage put loads on motors, such as belt drive them to other motors.If all of this seems awkward, remember this is just an experiment, and the motors are in effect, instruments, very sturdy instruments.If you can light light bulbs, you can heat water. Hot water is like a battery, and very predictable.Don't use led light bulbs. Use old fashioned energy killing clear incandescent types, if you can find any in Germany.I buy mine at the cheap little corner stores while they are available. Soon there may be import restrictions, and they may be unavailable.The beauty of using them, while so cheap, is you don't cry when you pop them like fuses.( if they "pop" you have been successful hah!)Again series and parallel these resisters.The nice thing about the tungsten filiments in them, they can give some cushion to pulses which when slower, you can see, and faster, well it can be useful as a poor man's oscilloscope.With such simple apparatus, it is not a big jump to practical devices for the home, or vehicle.I hope this is some helpCheers Warren

Can you get a nicrom wire to glow ? If so you can insulate it an put it in
to the hot section of a sterling engine and convert it to rotational
energy.....they do this to test new sterling designs.
