At the time that I worked on these "beast",(1956-63) I did not have a LCR meter! For $17 bucks on EBay you can buy one and measure it! The output can be designed to fit whatever voltage and current (and power) that is needed. Of course some physical limits exist depending on how good materials are available. Less capacitance gives higher impedance which means higher voltage and power but lasting for a shorter period of time. This is with the initial magnetic energy held constant. The flyback pulse is a half period of a full oscillation. Here are some values of the inductance of the primary coil depending on how long the cycle time is with a 26nF = .026uF capacitor: The length of the arc can give a clue of the output voltage. But then we have to know the windings ratio between the primary and secondary coils to be able to calculate the inductance of the coils. Hi Norm, it has been said many times that μF and mF have the same name in the US. What is right now? 0.026 mF = milli Farrad or 26 μF = millionth Farrad. I hope the translator works properly. Hector has also indicated mF for its diode plug, the capacitors must be huge if they are oil-filled compensation capacitors. Sorry I'm a little bit mad. regards Sven
