 Warren works as a movie-props maker, has built the most incredible stuff during his career seen in movies and TV, like 3/4 size replica lunar lander just as one example....also Warren built himself a big concrete-hulled ocean going boat (schooner?) that he has sailed to the Carribean from Canada a few times too.....Warren has got OU from a rotovertor using the run cap phase and series transformer powering a DC boat motor (increase in power out to power in 1.6 times) also has built lots of other stuff too- he is talented, that is for sure.

VERY TALENTED(SKILLED)  I tried the transformer(I have a 120/24v tansformer) downloaded your drawing  ROTOVERTER/TRANSFORMER  could not get it to work! It seems to me you need more than 1 wire going to transformer. On the drawing it goes from cap to tansformer to 3d  phase of motor .Wired up exactly as drawing& did'nt work! 
could you help???

W.M.HeldWhile "talented& skilled" may go to my head, I can't see the drawing.We have 1st, a normal running RVThen we cut the capacitor tuning wire and install a single pole single throw switch and close the switch.We should still have a normal running RV? Yes, good.Now, connect the two primary wires to your transformer to either pole of that same switch which is closed causing the RV to keep on performing in a normal fashion for an RV, at full speed.While the RV is at full speed and tuned for least amperage draw open the switch from across those two primary wires.Re-tune for the primary transformer coil to be included.Next, closing that shunt switch, attach a load to the secondary two wires such as a rectifier, and an appropriate sized light bulb. Note if everything is running normally perhaps adjusting your capacitor box.Capacitor box? OMG you didn't make a capacitor tuning box for your RV?It is a real bummer to be fussing with alligator clips and jumper wires with at least 120 volts popping about looking for shorts, or an open, from rag tag wires.Make sure you are using oil filled capacitors of at least 500 volts, and not more than 2 mf. For your tuning increments.If all is under control and a happy thing, put a big dc motor on the rectified secondary and retune to the lowest draw.Now, if you are a really lucky guy, you may have yet another winding in the transformer that might be a usefull to charge your batteries.I ran the 22 volt dc from this to my Rene charger that happily charged several 5 amp 12 volt lead acid batteries with 300 volt dc  pulses, all spike, and close to zero amps. ( the amp meter on the drive battery did not twitch at the charging ..)Well, that's how I did it, getting the 12 volt dinghy motor drawing 2.5 amps of 12 volt dc, to run on1.5 amps draw, from the drive battery.Cheers Warren

Ignore the other phase wire.Two circuits are in play. The RV phase....you don't mess with that circuit you only involve yourself with the capacitor tuning circuit, and using your fancy tuning box that you have constructed, and the single pole single throw shunt switch on that caopacitor tuning circuit.Cheers WarrenSent from Yahoo Mail on Android

Warren ,YES I did/wired exactjy as you and the drawing describes,I don't know what the problem is .I know the transformer is good took it from a working battery back up so Idon't know what else to check!Besides I have plenty of other projects!

 What do you mean by it didn't work?
 Do you mean you could never get the RV motor to spin at all, or fast enough to latch to sinewave speed??
 The "series" transformer needs to be disconnected during start up, when using the bigger uf start cap to get it going from stop....this might be the problem?
 Connect transformer later on, after the RV motor is humming along at its sinewave speed.

 OK sounds good - just get the motor going first with start cap to start it, and then much smaller uf run cap replacing the start cap when it gets up to speed.... and then play with run cap size some more to lower draw as low as possible,....then after that, try the series transformer experiment...
 Do not switch in the big uf start cap while the motor runs with the small uf run cap connected  at sinewave speed!! 
 This will cause extreme magnetic braking to rotor and the motor can lurch off bench or even possibly explode if going high rpms...

YES KONE I'VE heard about that but would never attempt to engage start cap while run cap is functioning/! the lowest wattage I'VE been able to get is 
7 watts w/0 load ,I will play w/RV more.THANKS WMH

 7W is pretty good, especially with 120VAC input.....7W in DC into invertor and invertor powers RV even better.....to be "advanced" you need to be in control of pulse width, frequency and also voltage into the motor.....for sure when you hook up the series transformer you will see a drop in draw when fairly heavy load is applied to the transformer output, then you need to juggle the cap sizes around too....there are lots and lots of rotovertor circuit experiments to try out.

KONE ,i HAVE A 3000W INVERTER THAT IS SUPPLIED BY ABOUT 1000W SOLAR PANELS IT POWERS MY HOME A LOT. That is what I use to drive the RV & experiment with .I have a 5hp 3phase motor sitting on tp of my battery bank w/is agm's 2ftwide by 4ft long 04in tall most are useless but!I'D like to charge the battery's w/RV  a little bit!!

DougWhen working an RV, it is so important to make a proper capacitor tuning box complete with a good strong switch for each and every capacitor. The switches should be the kind that make a good positive connection, not expensive, but not you silent wall switch either.Lately, I have been using Chinese made 30 amp 12 volt dc toggle switches. They are not rated for 120/240 volts, but take one apart and see how it works.I think it is some kind of trade sanction, but they work for me, and do a good job, connecting, and disconnecting with nice brass contacts, and springs, separated with phenolic plastic.$ 2.00 each at Princess Automotive during their lost leader sales in Canada. Just rated for 12 volts you know, nudge, nudge, wink, wink.My caps, apart from my home made knife breaker switches, which have never failed, are 600 volt oil filled, that I have purchased on line, haunted surplus places dusty back shelves, and collected like the awful hoarder that I am, in the low value mf ranges, as these were harder to get for me. It is nice to have 1 and 2 mf oil filled caps, complete with the each and every one having its own switch. I place them in Pelican type waterproof tool boxes, with proper inline plugs and sockets coming out of the boxes, so the whole thing is light and portable as it can be. Duh! Label each switch value! I learned.If you dabble in RV or any free energy, you need this tool, an adjustable capacitor of good power and range.Cheers Warren

OK sounds good - just get the motor going first with start cap to start it, and then much smaller uf run cap replacing the start cap when it gets up to speed.... and then play with run cap size some more to lower draw as low as possible,....then after that, try the series transformer experiment...

Do not switch in the big uf start cap while the motor runs with the small uf run cap connected  at sinewave speed!! 

This will cause extreme magnetic braking to rotor and the motor can lurch off bench or even possibly explode if going high rpms...

WernerI used a cheap and dirty 125 watt inverter to run my 3 hp 480 volt WEG three phases. It was a twenty year old Canadian made unit that put out crappy square waves, perhaps, but it did not have any of the shut down safety gear on it making it baby safe for the home.It would work its little heart out until it would explode and burn trying.That is the kind of inverter you want, a no frills expendable tool that takes 12 volts or 24 volts and puts out a sort of ac signal that an ac motor might recognize, and not waste any power doing that. If it changes frequency from 50 or 60 hz, that is a bonus.I have even had success with those things that plug into the cigar socket in the car.You must start your RV on grid power and switch the source over when up to full speed with a double pole , double throw switch, so you are not fumbling around like the guys in the third world flywheel videos, with getting plugs into sockets before you lose sine speed!
Your fancy big inverter is overkill for what you are doing. My RV runs on 200ma with no load, with no grease.The greased version runs on 400maI use the greased version because dust control is an issue where I experiment, or at least was.Doug is right! Get your RV going and play with it, to see what you can do with it. Variacs( auto transformers) are very useful tools to use with it, as are toroid transformers, and lots, and lots, of 1000 volt bridge rectifiers.Cheers Warren

Could resonance play a role? Now you got me wondering why it worked.I know it worked because I measured DC in, and DC out, with several meters, including calibrated scientific analogs, and surprisingly, they all agreed.The question then, is what if anything, did I do differently that what you did?It is now several years since the experiment. My equipment has been jumbled around several barns in boxes, but surprising me, it is pretty much still with me. Nothing has gone by the wayside, but it is pretty disorganized yet.The boring business of building shelves, and all that.One thought is whether the transformer was multi tap or multi winding, but it really seemed like an ordinary hardware store general purpose, one unit fits all uses kind of transformer, and not especially expensive, perhaps $30.00, but I bought it used at a surplus store.Cheers Warren
