Blew a x100 probe with a small MOT today..That's what i got from playing around with the spark plug location and gaps, some pure white to purple. Nice spark form the Auto-lite plug. How to hook up Rotoverter 2 MOT's with or with-out the 2k cap's?

SvenI am so pleased to hear you continuing your work with the transverter.As usual, I only understand a little of what you are doing, but it sure sounds promising, and capable of substantial power, if those shunts mean anything.I am glad that you gave made a decade box, it makes tuning so much easier. You may find, as I did, some small value oil filled capacitors, which are always welcomed to a decade box.Not all devices using the decade box, need such fine adjustment, as .5mf, which my 3 hp Rotoverter can't see, where jumps of 2mf, are just OK to adjust.A good reliable decade box is quite a terrific tool!Please keep up the good work, and I hope to follow on your heels, with a replication, using my big 3 phase transformer.My work space is progressing along. I have just done the heavy stonework all around the two big front windows.It is an old building of very primitive stone construction used to keep the carriage horses, I believe, as well as the carriage itself, built prior to 1840, from stone quarried on the property. Much of the original mortar used was mud, with very little burnt limestone added. The walls are at least 610mm thick.This is the 2 story building I am trying to heat this winter using electricity, to be used as my workshop laboratory. I have installed spray foam insulation inside the steel roof 100mm thick, and in the floor, 75mm urethane foam as well.On top of the foam, is a slab floor of concrete, with plastic tubes cast inside, a common heating method in Europe, I am told.I have located an air to liquid heat pump, which is on its way here that will use 10 amps of 220 volt AC to run it.Over the course of this experiment, I will add solar electric panels to the roof, scaling back on my need for grid power. well not so bad as scope still works, probe shorted to ground. It was showing large clamp (input 4) currents on HV side when I played with spark plug. That's most likely my bad as it also made larger voltage a puff go's the resistor! I had a `14 kv electric 50 mile fencer blew the secondary as it ran (unknown to me) with no load (some thing broke both HV leads). The wire had a short beside a turn in about the center of path. Very well destoryed secondary coil even burnt out the next layer insulation!. Just had to re-wind now it's shows the normal 14 kv. So moral of fencer always make sure a load is on lines or puff goes the HV side coil.. I don't mind blowing a MOT as they a dime or some times free..

Thanks I give that a try some-day! Be nice a find a way to cheaply measure the voltage up to 30 kv probably need a x10000 for safety. See one on utube one with good instructions. Not that I need it that high but never know..Just for a few use's is not worth it. Had mine hooked inverse.
