Umm just realized you can only buy an inverter AC unit now so the Hz speed is no longer an issue. They go as fast or as slow as they want.:)

A little progressOn top of a 40 ton load of crushed limestone well tamped down, spray foam insulation was applied to a thickness of75 to 100 mm thick.Steel re- bar mesh grid was then laid down. To that, the various circuits of the floor heating tubes are installed, held in place with ny-ties.We will be heating the water based liquid with an electric heat pump, as yet to be purchased.Europeans are far ahead of the heating companies in North America regarding efficiency, I have been told. Sweden uses this type of system, as does Austria, and Germany. It is now being used in the UK too.Although they use 250 volt 50 htz systems, it may be possible to convert from single phase 220volt 60 htz?My issue is to either hack an air to air system to be able to run liquid, using heat exchangers, or buy a European system, as North American systems are not geared for in floor heating, unless you pay big money. The outcome is fairly uncertain, speaking with people who have gone the North American route.I also wish to burn wood, as the property produces, purhaps, five cords a year, with just windfalls and branches, that must be cleared and disposed of.Supplimenting the heated floor, or hot water, seems a good idea in winter.I have not as yet even addressed solar power, electric or thermal, but in any case must get the infrastructure for the apparatus in place. The fundamental item is the heated radiant floor. I need this workshop to continue my research.The building is to be my workshop, studio laboratory space. It needs to be heated. Europe is now standardized as nominal 230V under the allowed deviation values even though many countries operated anywhere between 220V to 247v.  So i cant see an issue with an AC pump with a plate rating of 230v 50hz running on 220V 60hz apart from running slightly faster of course.  I wouldn't try to modify an air unit to liquid as the calorific throughput of the gas design  is vastly different.  With air a lot of BTU's are moved on a small temperature gradient. You want to feel some heat in your pipes so you need less transfer more heat which means a complete redesign.  

 

 Best way to save heat in your workshop is keep the large areas cooler but comfy enough to keep out the damp and cold then have a small workshop room well heated and split air unit on the wall can do this no problem still get a COP of about 4

Warren the plant people keep there green houses warm Thu winter by using
two layers of clear plastic as cover and walls then they only heat between
the layers .the inside just stays warm .the cold has to come Thu that
better .but if you heat it it can't .
