Hi Ole, the circuit should only output a square wave signal to the mosfets to drive the transverter in push-pull mode. I want to find the sweetspot of the transformatos, I do not think that succeeds with sine and fixed frequency. Perhaps you can achieve a more effective operation and higher frequency with short pulses. what do the mentioned protection circuits look like? Overvoltage protection can indeed be produced via Zener diodes or suppressor diodes. I think the transverter will also receive energy spikes back to the drive coil through the ferroresonance that may be deadly to the mosfets. With ohmic load the circuits worked perfectly only with large transformers the Igbts went defective. Hi Sven, Square waves https://wiki2.org/en/Square_wave contain lots of odd harmonic harmonics. Sine waves only have one frequency unless it's distorted. A PWM sine wave also has harmonics but at much higher frequencies that are easier to filter out especially if the carrier wave is of much higher frequency than the sine wave. In HiFi audio amplifiers (class-D) the carrier wave is hundreds of kHz to have lots of samples representing the audio signal and requiring only simple filters to remove the carrier wave. "what do the mentioned protection circuits look like?" Overvoltage monitoring can be done by using a voltage divider and a comparator (fast operational amplifier with digital output) that compares the voltage with a reference signal. When the monitored signal gets above the reference signal the output of the comparator triggers the shutdown signal of the SG3525. It can be made to stop until an external signal resets the protection circuit or just to start up when the fault condition is corrected. Current monitoring is done across a current shunt or with a current transformer or a hall device or perhaps a Rogowski coil. This signal is also compared to a reference signal to trig the shutdown input of the SG3525 when the current becomes too big. There are current monitor IC's for measuring current with a current shunt on floating voltages. This is almost like a differential probe for an oscilloscope. Hi Ole, I want to create exactly the harmonics or use it to produce more efficient Ferroresonanz without repercussions or to find the sweetspot of the transformer I use. I always think of the 3W Pulser with which Hector has a 10KW ringing generated in a transformer. In principle, I want to pulse the transformer in push-pull mode. In Transverter R and D pdf it is described on page 25 what Jinii did. Unfortunately, the website of him is not accessible to me or just not available anymore. And in the RE-OU pdf on page 48 I deposit the pdf times. As far as the safety measures are concerned, I try to compensate for this with oversized components and additional freewheeling diodes, because I am not so fit in such things. regards Sven

I could imagine that at that time I brought the transformer into saturation and the resistance became very small and thus for a short time very high currents were flowing which the IGBTs could not survive. regards Sven

Hi Sven, Ferro resonance is very fast pulses formed by saturation of the core which happens very fast. This makes everything ring at its resonant frequency. Every component has its own resonant frequency as all components have parasites of inductance and capacitance (as well as resistance). The reactive components which are the inductive and capacitive ones then forms tank circuits that will ring or oscillate at their resonant frequencies when hit by fast enough pulses. Saturation of the transformer core is just the hammer that hits the reactive components with very quick signals. The windings of the transformer change its inductance from large to very small when the core saturates. This makes the impedance of the transformer almost vanish and thus can be used as an ultra-fast switch. If you can input 3W of continuous power and take out 10kW of continuous power then a self-runner can be made. If the energy is just stored and then released as 10kW pulses of 3W of continuous power then there's no gain in continuous power. Tesla made MW pulses from input of continuous kW power. Radars do the same thing. It would probably be cheaper to make a protection circuit than using very rugged components. Your chosen controller already has the shutdown input for using a protective circuit to shut down the running if overloaded. Hello Ole, Due to the self-made push pull inverter, I hope to get better results in the Ferroresonanz generation than with 50Hz sine AC voltage. I think my power semiconductors are then broken as the core of the transformer at that time you saturated the peaks and the resistance was too small and a high peak current flowed. I would like to switch a choke in front of the center tap as with the Mazilli converter or Royer to limit the ampere under circumstances may flow. I like the Sot227 design because they have an insulated housing and they can safely screw on a heat sink. Mosfets: IXFN44N100P I use. Yes, with the 3 Watt Pulser is only the 10kw ringing occurs. SvenWhat you are doing is very exciting.If the 3 w pulse can produce 10kw at a usable voltage, pulses, DC, whatever... It is all good. Once you have 10kw, you have 10kw to play with, even charging capacitors, it is all good.Load it into a deep cycle battery, only to kill spikes, which deep cycle batteries will absorb like nothing, then use the deep cycle battery to power a big inverter. Yes except everything in a coil behaves opposite to a capacitor. As the energy in a coil is stored as a magnetic field (current) the energy is released when opening the circuit. In a capacitor the energy is released when the circuit is closed. Coils store the energy in the most common types of switched mode power supplies. The Ćuk converter use capacitors to store the energy. When opening the circuit of a current carrying coil the voltage increases to keep the current at the same level as being stored. No discontinuity in the current is allowed which makes the voltage of the open impedance fit the stored current. Thus an increase in impedance of 100 times gives an increase in the voltage of the same 100 times to keep the current running. The period of the pulse is decreased by the same rate and thus the power is increased also by the same rate as the energy isn't changed. Hi Kone, The permeability is a material constant and is what determines how good a magnetic conductor the core is. Even vacuum has this property and thus acts like a physical object (an aether). When an iron core is saturated the magnetic conductance is that of air or vacuum which is a great drop compared to the conductivity of unsaturated iron. Physicists don't recognize the vacuum having physical properties. This is probably because of Albert Einstein or because of having to rewrite or correct their books of physics. Engineers do recognize such properties and use them all the time. Hi Ole, since I have a bifilar winding on the 3 phase transformer on each leg, I can wire the windings so that I can induce a square wave in push-pull mode, maybe ping, with a short strong pulse, that's my plan. I wanted to set a choke on the push-pull center tap so that the current can be limited if the transformer winding through saturation or fault still has at least an impedance so that the mosfets are not destroyed, what do you think of that? I have found a pdf for Energy Recovery Snubber here as in Figure A, I wanted to build that. regards Sven

Hi Sven, A square wave voltage as input gives a triangular wave of current. An inductor certainly will limit the current of a square wave. An electronic fuse or a crowbar circuit that blows a normal fuse would protect even against excess DC current. The snubber protects against over-voltage spikes.
