Warren I wired one up like this, then another I just bought the kit because I did not have time to mess with it ,they are readily avalible on ebay or other outlets just use double the HP on the phaser of what the machines are for good start up I have never tried the pure electronic ones. Warren,
If you want 5 hp using single phase on a 3 phase motor you need to go to a 15 hp motor as you will only get about 33% of the rated hp on single phase.
Get a bigger 3 phase motor and run it on single phase.

Subject: [EVGRAY] Three phase motors that must be used
Hi GuysI have a friend who has a machine shop where the machines are primarily three phase 250 volt, and he has moved where there is no 3 phase power. He needs the full horsepower the motors provide. The motors in many of his machines are worm driven gear reduction drives integrated into the gear boxes. They are beautiful machines, but right now useless.
I know about RV from only my own experience. My motors are terrific for what I use them for, but one is looking at 1/3 the rated horsepower. How can 3 phase power reliably be made from single phase in a simple practical manner.Talking out of my hat, based on an old surplus genset I had when building my boat, what about a motor generator set?My unit was a 4 cylinder Jeep motor driving a three phase generator, of which I only used one of the phases to run power tools. I am sure it was at least WW2 vintage. It ran just fine, but this is a different situation, and different times.Cheers Warren

Hi Warren There is something called a "Lineator" that is electronic box you can buy that converts single phase power to three phase, and does it through filtering and who knows what else....I just came across this as I was copying all the files in files section and Chad Underwood (AKA Joe Low Watt) had a link for these in his folder and they seem like they would be just the thing your friend with machine shop needs... Other than that, have him try converting some of his motors to rotovertor, use heavy UF run caps so they have some good shaft power. Maybe as they were, they did not need all that shaft power from 3ph being fed to them and they were being overpowered I don't know.... I will send the two PDFs I have about the lineator after this email, through sending emails with attachments to EVGRAY....there is a performance report too, it seems to work fine... ciaoKone

Thanks DougI thought that three phase motors can be driven by the shaft and become generators but have never knowingly done that. I can't seem to tell a motor from a generator by looking at them when it comes to ac.I have both ac motors and generators, yet don't understand the subtle differences if any.Cheers Warren Sent from Yahoo Mail on Android On Mon, Feb 12, 2018 at 2:15 AM, [email protected] [EVGRAY]<[email protected]> wrote: Hi Warren There is something called a "Lineator" that is electronic box you can buy that converts single phase power to three phase, and does it through filtering and who knows what else....I just came across this as I was copying all the files in files section and Chad Underwood (AKA Joe Low Watt) had a link for these in his folder and they seem like they would be just the thing your friend with machine shop needs... Hi Warren, Most motors/generators are functioning like a reversible process. When the shaft turns slower than the line frequency they convert electrical power to mechanical power and thus are called motors. When the shaft turns faster than the line frequency they convert mechanical power to electrical power and thus are called generators. Hi Warren I found some very good information about using 3PH induction motors as alternators, also it says if you over-speed them by some percentage more than the speed they are rated at when working as motors running from an AC sinewave, you can direct-feed your grid line power at least this is my understanding...these documents are very easy to understand, made for the average Joe so after this I will send them to group for you to read in an email attachment will do that after this post. ciao Kone

DougThis is quire intetesting for more than just my friend Mike. Being able to provide a little AC source for RV can't be bad for looping ambitions either...Hmmmmm?I like the fact that there are no delicate electronic parts to turn to smoke. Now it is a matter of trying to tell which kind of motors to look for, when looking at a rusty heap of motors.Cheers Warren Sent from Yahoo Mail on Android On Tue, Feb 13, 2018 at 4:05 AM, [email protected] [EVGRAY]<[email
