I wonder if you placed and iron ring arround the size of your entire build then played with some mags on it.

All I got here is a hand drill with hole saws, a sabre saw, a hot glue gun that's about it!

Going back to USA with wife leaving tomorrow by bus to Vilnius Lithuania, then from there to Reykjavik then from there  to Seattle..  these motorgenerators I have been making videos of get left here in Minsk until we return probably in January I really want to get it over 2000rpm I think the coils will not suffer from lenz in a frequency window up there in rotor speed (Thane Karl Heinz delayed lenz effect)

I have another mullermotorgenerator back in Seattle that's better than this wood one, but has only 8 rotor magnets, while the wood one here has 16...

 it has ferrite cores all around like RomeroUK did, and already has responded well to backing magnets behind the generator coils,.... and with the coils shorted out, the magnets give some good speed up which is what you want to see:
