 If I was to build another tomorrow, I would do things different - first like mentioned, have 4 motor coil positions, not two that are the coils that spin the rotor,,,,have coils of course on top and bottom stators so its 8 coils you can string in series....then space the stator coil positions not "based on" not 9 positions, but 15 or 17 (odd number) would be good against a rotor of 16 magnets, so now you can jam two generator coil postions between each motor coil position for total of 8 generator coil positions (16 generator coils total)
 Also consider abandoning the odd vs even thing altogether, make it 16 coil positions vs 16 magnets.
 Now you can string the generator coils in series or parallel or combos of both, as they are all in phase now so  output switching much easier just one switch needed not a dozen!
 My dual rotor motor has 8 coils vs 16 magnets, so coils in phase and the magnets "lock up" to the cores in rotation, but I like it, when I spin by hand it seems to want to spin by itself for awhile so I am not sold on the whole odd vs even coils vs magnets thing....
 All this said however, you might want to copy exact what RomeroUK did as your first build on this..Then take off later on your own ideas in next one.
 For motor coils, either in RomeroUK copy or other designs, I would suggest about 75mm long ferrite cores, use litz wire,, wind about 12 or 15mm length at "front" to be motor coils, pack the rest of length of core with induced pickup/generator winds...rectify all that put it into caps...
 Here is video I just linked to James about those backing magnets behind the cores this what I built in USA...it has ferrite cores I think ferrite might be necessary to get this to work since it can flip polarity so fast:
