James No true words have been spoken.Vicarious knowledge gained from reading is as good as the reputation of the writer.We have to place our trust in somebody's statements, that we have not verified ourselves.You can't do this for everything. It will just make you crazy trying.This is why one of the strongest rules of civilized society is telling the truth.Deception, whether one diludes oneself, or passes a lie out to form a false reality, in someone else's mind, is a repugnant form of fraud.This is why a good reality check, by putting things up to a well informed, well intentioned group, is good.The down side is, if everyone believes something is impossible, it most certainly is, because no one will attempt the impossible, except the crazy person.It is a game that only the half crazy win at.You better play it with your own money, because there is always "fraud" for the speculator to face.
So the rule, if any should be in place, is be kind, be truthful, do your own tests of the unknown. Make honest reports, as painful as that sometimes is. It is good for the group, at least.I have done many tests that ended up being duds.It does not mean much except my test, and how I did something, did not work.On the other hand, if something works, well, I'll blab it all over, and hope to heaven I credit the ones that gave me the idea to do it.We pass this life once.
