Hi Mick,

I use Mathcad as calculator. It has become too expensive and missing the animation ability so looking for an alternative. SMath Studio looks like Mathcad and is free (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SMath_Studio https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SMath_Studio). I like the animation function to simulate transmission line reflections and standing waves etc. It can also animate wave patterns like the force fields of the Rhythmodynamics theory. I actually haven't done those simulations much since discovering the Rhythmodynamics theory.

The formulas are written like done on paper. The program then calculates the formula and puts the result after the equal to sign.

 A further complexity arises when adding a Zobel to the shaping inductor
 as the impedance becomes much more complex due to additional peaking and
 added IM distortion but that's another story and as we all know
 electronic design is always a compromise.
