InfoI have a friend in Nova ScotiaUsing such a system His flywheel is much smaller, but not only self runs, but speeds up.His flywheel is from an old make and break engine and is not weighted correctly having a counter weight cast 18into it.It shakes the 8"×8" timber stand all around the room, but drives the Canadian tire generator head, and the ac motor driving it.
He has been helping me with my flywheel rig which did just about what yours did.He turns his at 3000 rpm which for an old make and break flywheel, is scary. It shakes and rattles all across the floor, and he kept it going for 30 minutes.Now he is making his next flywheel, and I am helping as I can.My friend Mike, in Toronto, happens to be driving next week to Nova Scotia, to go to his cottage there.I got them together, and now Mike is going to drop by and help him machine the new flywheel  as he is also a machinist, as well as the heat pump guru.(Both are keen to get their electric vehicles self running.)
I have a number of irons in the fire, and am too busy to get away, or I would go there too, and help out.It is 1200 miles from here.Don't give up on your wheel, there's more to it than you might guess, and it seems simple enough to do.I will update you as I get more photos, and details.He has been totally forth coming, with any information, I have asked for, and invited Mike to stay over, on his trip. So cheer up, and keep at it.WarrenSent from Yahoo Mail on Android
