In Germany the very accomplished engineer there was using arduion to short coils, it seemed always messed up from something or other, and never seemed to be a short enough pulse too. It never got finished and working well...moslty my fault actually as I was always leaving lab early to help wife cope iwith this and that in germany.... Hall effects with trigger magnets on disc on shaft of motor or generator I think still best way to control mosfets either bidirectional and parallel for shorting, or just single mosfet for pulsing in or out the DC.
Did you see my second youtube video poste d...you could make AC from alternating DC pulses I ran both a rotovertor motor with it and also one of my DC motors with the NSNS rotors and four coils each side...anyways its so simple two trigger magnets at 180 degrees on rim of disc on shaft, then two stationary hall effects at 90 degrees to control H switcher or even better I think two independent power supplies and single mosfets for each, DC pulse direction...you can recover backemf/recoils into caps too,...
anyways don't want to distract you sorry!
but if problems hit too hard with arduino, give this a try with your Samsung....pulse width can be adjust by making a tight row of 3 or 4 trigger magnets instead of just one out on rim, or put 3 or 4 hall effects in tight row to make more pulse width..... also there is another arduino-like product cant remember the name but it is supposed to be much faster switching...the engineer in Germany wanted to switch to that but never finished it.
