Hi MickThe Golden motor is an ECM motor! It has a lot more poles than Gary's.I was just thinking.......Of course, picking up a Sanyo pan cake , if that is what is being used.I am trying to loop, to heat the stone barn by means of the heat pump, just for curiosity, to see if it can be done. Oh, if it works, I just might yank out the diesel in my little canal boat, and replace that Yanmar with two 3hp tread mill motors driving the prop. I just don't want to bother much with traction batteries, so a looping generator seems the next best option for auxiliary propulsion, since it is also a sail boat. There is a very pretty canal nearby, going up to Ottawa, built in the 1820's. What fun to do it with out fuel. Getting rid of stinky diesel is a bonus.ľBuilding a working Gary Porter generator is stage 1.Cheers Warren

Warren,

Nope just some bridge diodes if that is your intention, not exactly sure as per Gary as I have not analyzed the design.  However it might be interesting to use one of these controllers on a rewired rotor with a high pole count as a motor gen all in one by disconnecting some of the drive poles and using for generation rather than drive.   I would likely run the washing machine motor if Kone's text below is your intention.

Do I even need one of these, if using it for a generator, like Gary Porter is doing? It puts out 3 phase ac when driven I have never put it on a scope yet, so don't the frequency and rpm of its happy spot

Warren,

There are some very inexpensive 3 phase BLDC motor controllers now, even ones that are Auduino compatible.  This looks like a nice one to try, cant go wrong for 40 bucks.

I have that Golden motor powered bicycle hub motor that I fitted on a stand. What do I need to do to run it like Gary's, as a generator? In the past, I put bridge rectifiers between a,b,c. to harvest dc. Obviously, one has to do something more clever, to get it to loop in some way. I never have had a proper motor driver circuit for this dumpster diver salvaged motor. I did rig it up so it can be v belt driven and is mounted on a stand. Cheers Warren

Hi all
Gary has finished the looping motor generator project now waiting for glue to dry and will run it today or tommorow.
This is copy of the Looper that ran for three years in RV someone lived in, then this guy sold it to someone in South america who now had it in a yacht.
So it's a Samsung pancake washing machine motor as prime mover, a flywheel, 4 ecm motors working as generators and some belts and pulleys to get the ecm motors up to their no Lenz rpm window via Thane Karl Heinz delayed Lenz effect is how I understand it.
Gary was given directions to take it up slowly in rpms with load on the ecm generators, and and when the amps driving the samsung pancake motor drops significantly ,now hold it there and try and loop it.. Looping would be to run invertor with the 40 farad cap bank while simultaneously filling this cap bank with one to four of the ecm motors working as generators.
Gary also placed hand wound pickup coils next to the drive coils of the pancake motor, to make more power from these too...this something the original builder did not do.
This idea similar to what I always talk about,; to extend length of a motor coil core, and place pickup winds behind the motor coil in orfer yo take advantage of all the wasted flux on backend of coil that is not pushing or pulling rotor magnet or rotor coil...
At 1:46 Gary explains how he pocessrs the pickup coil energy, and that also is what I always talk about, in to fill caps only and dump caps to load oh when caps now disconnected from coils (two stage output)
Anyways here is link...check later on his youtube channel to see how it goes ...far as I know Gary is not on any forums and communicates yhrough.yputube and email...he was here for awhile maybe 7 years ago but left after bickering and negativity which I think evgray is pretty much rid of nowadays...so here is the link:
