Warren,

I lost contact with the guy but I think he said there could be no metal
where the coils mount.

Anyways it sounds as though you secured a gorgeous stone property.
There is a huge thermal mass like this brick concrete place I am in and
it can be chilly until one raises the temp to the bifurcation point
where instead of a sink it's a source so just a degree over ambient and
as you say after the thermal mass stores heat as a capacitor, it works
well.  Have a log home that does the same thing but it does not take as
long to move the heat through as does brick stone or concrete.  After
the sun drops it gets hotter inside when it becomes the radiator.

As Ole mentioned so much is forgotten.  If you were in front of one of
the masons of the time he would likely say well duh everyone knows that,
and did you know this then lay something down you couldn't believe
people forgot.  Constructing in stone is expensive but the longest
lasting.  Even the interlocking Peruvian type stone buildings still
require earthquake maintenance but will likely stand for thousands of
years more. Then again mortarless stone construction is the most costly
of the stone construction techniques.

The local tribes tried to repair the temples but had lost the stone
cutting tech which were likely sound driven.

Glad you are going with a heat pump, propane is expensive and a much
wetter heat.  It's nice from the perspective of permanence you are on
top of stone but makes a geothermal heat pump a near impossibility.
A good source of hydrogen like a solar electro cell and the catalytic
converter from a car is supposed to be quite the heating source.  Can
find catalytics for about $120 new.  I wonder how efficient Norms
hydrogen machine for heating would be in this way?

What brand heat pump did you end up with?
