Think of the electrocaloric effect: https://wiki2.org/en/Electrocaloric_effect https://wiki2.org/en/Electrocaloric_effect. This is just like the magnetocaloric effect (https://wiki2.org/en/Magnetocaloric_effect https://wiki2.org/en/Magnetocaloric_effect) but for electric fields.
If the circuit is a self-runner the energy must come from somewhere. My guess is that it converts ambient heat to electricity. Decreasing the capacitance to half its initial value at constant charge implies doubling the energy being stored. If there is some phase shift between the changing capacitance and the stored charge there could be some kind of parametric pumping. This of course requires going the proper way around the cycle in the phase plane.

I read through the page. Unfortunately it contains no valuable information. They just make a fool of Hans Weber! :-( Without a more detailed description the above circuit is probably of not much use! :-( Too may open questions regarding the underlying concept. The circuit simply does not seem to make much sense as shown above (at least to me)!?
I found the schematic that I got of the self-runner and it is attached. This circuit uses a class X5R ceramic capacitor which has negative capacitance characteristic with increasing voltage. This looks like a perpetual motion machine of the second kind. I.e. it's converting heat into some other kind of energy (electrical energy and then back into heat and light through the lamp).
This looks interesting. The voltage in the tank rises, the capacitance decreases which leads to an even higher voltage in the tank not by just charging the cap further but squeezing together the charges on the plate due to the diminishing capacitance. However, this does not yet mean that we have more energy in the cap than was earlier stored in the magnetic field of the coil (just a higher voltage due to the capacitance reduction). The reduction of the magnetic field also causes EMF to be inducted in the secondary coils. One of these secondaries charges the cap though the diode. But this also diminishes the magnetic energy more quickly. I mot yet can see where this should go OU. Where is the energy transformation (heat to EMF) taking place and why?
