Hi James,
As far as having guns or weapons goes.... unfortunately both George and I
live in an overly regulated Australia.

Here we can be charged if we injure a burglar whilst he robs our homes.
Don't laugh it has and it does happen, homeowners & shopkeepers have been
charged and found guilty,
Then having to compensate the burglar/intruder for their injuries and or
going to jail themselves.

We are not allowed actually defend ourselves or use "excessive force". In
the heat of the moment though, sometimes you just gotta use what you can
reach for.
Our often over zealous & aggressive Police will charge folks for going just
2 miles per hour over a speed limits etc etc

The justice system is very slow, expensive and often overly lenient.
As a result thugs thieves all manner of low life tend to injure people with
impunity here.

Don't get me wrong it's a great country but most individual freedoms have
been severely curtailed.
And late night shopkeepers & gas station attendants taxi drivers are just
sitting ducks... poor bastards.

We over here admire the US for it's seemingly true freedoms and it's
constitution.
