This video very good very simple good explanation how Gray motor works. My own speculations what he shows:
Gray motor has NN rotor and stator coils and the bucking HV pulse creates intense 90 degree to airgap flux energy that shoots out from all sides of airgap beyween rotor and stator during bucking pulse. I call this compressed platter flux energy.
This is reason for small square hole in end cap of motor housing; as place to observe and insert testing instruments for that flux.
The single turn thick wire turns around the motor housing is an attempt to pickup this splatter energy and not best way to do it...better long thin ferrite cored cores with wire wrapped around it pointed directly at 90 degrees to airgap.
The intense electrostatic energy described is the 40kv flyback recoil spikes that manifest from a 2000v dc cap ischarve into the coils and these spikes also manifest within splatter energy too.
What is contained in splatter energy probably x
200v as that is what I measured in 12v powered Gray motor variant konehead motors.
..12v in and 2000v out in the splatter energy using ferrite cored pickup coil method pointing directly at airgap....
Dual power supplies could be to fire bifilar motor coils one after other. And pulse into one half of bifilar induces very strong into other half to collect non reflective since coils are bucking....
Also could work as one supply hits rotor other the stator and you can adjust so perfectly matching in magnetic strength for maximum splatter energy (could be)
Also could work to flip polArity of stator cores only, in between bucking pulses, so that upon approach of coils and cores in rotation the core remnant polarity of NN becomes a pull-power stroke of NS..(REGAUGING) This something I did in konehead motors with permanent magnets between stators to flip rotor core polarity but this could be done electromagnetically  too if separte power inputd to rptors and stators
