I am sure you have these weird eccentric guys, there in Germany, too, like we have in Canada. It may be a group of fringe ham radio hobbiests, or just equipment freaks.In my film work, we always need what we called electronic "gorp": stuff that looked complex, and had shadow catching details, useful for background fill in science fiction films.Oh those electrical panels in space stations always seem to catch fire, being as they seem, full of 1950's era obsolete military, industrial garbage.That is how I scored my high voltage, high amperage silver/ mica capacitor, from the dross of pallets of this kind of thing.Once you contact one guy, that person will know more people to send you to.Get in your car and start driving, visiting guys in person.Cheers WarrenSent from Yahoo Mail on Android

Greg (RIP) was an Engineer at RCA Corp. Sven, this is the use of silver mica caps as piezo substitute!

We substituted the planar, silver mica capacitors 680pf into the mini MRA very successfully. They mimic the piezo in an electronic circuit!

Anytime one adds more capacitors Q drops as ESR increases so it works better if one can use the piezo for both functions, if possible. Many capacitors are also piezoelectric materials such as the mica and COG. Lower frequencies do not matter as much.

Yes I have used the little piezo transformers and have also used disks in a tank circuit acting as the capacitance. On the transformers I was able to get the most gain by using sine waves as they like a clean signal without distortion components being of high Q at the designed frequency. Something I need to get back to in order to determine more facts.
