The switch closure voltage is from the interference with the earth
magnetic flux along a transmission line, same as the "kick" Steven Mark
speaks of in the TPU and tube heater elements.  Just take some jumper
cables and short them at the end and put them out straight then touch a
battery and hope they don't get stuck and they will physically move.  Of
course don't try this with a battery that has a recent charge and still
has hydroxy everywhere.
