Mick!!!! You misinterpret  my feeling on this subject!!!!  Just because 
I posted it does not mean that I agree with these idiots! Yes! the cost 
to retrofit a skyscraper main electrical buss with time delays on branch 
circuits and other measures to control inrush currents of thousands of 
amps DC (SURGE) would be cost prohibitive.  I had a close friend (RIP) 
who pulled a huge Frankenstein knife switch on a 100 HP DC air handler 
motor dating back to the early twenties in a downtown Dallas commercial 
building. On opening the switch a basketball size Ball Lightning rolled 
out of the switch and fell to the concrete floor then skittered over to 
a wall in the basement and exploded. The very same thing that Tesla 
described in the early days of DC main buss power and the problems with 
switching!
