John!  Right on with your dissertation!   Tesla was a big advocate with 
the idea of mass.   Yes the buzzer armature was a very mild, soft  steel 
with horrible hysteresis characteristics. The Rogers underground radio 
antennae was lead pipe burried.  I Love Stubblefield.
