JamesIt is not so difficult to make your own battery plates of the deep cycle type.First of all deep cycle batteries have plates that can be 1/4" thick!You can easily pour 1/4" plates on a thick steel plate laid down absolutely level with 1/4" sides.For smaller lead sheets, I melt them in a seamless tin can.For the really large plates I use a large electric crucible.They need a plastic tank.Cheers Warren

Do I understand you correctly that you use a single diode in the old Tv transformer circuit to rectify to a dc spark, rather than a full wave diode bridge?Is it OK to use a fwd circuit, and still get the efficiency you are seeing?Cheers Warren

The way I see your drawing I should use the energy to pass it through a transformer before. The spark is quite small and if you touch your fingers there is a tingling, I do not think that you can draw the power from it.

On my Youtube channel, I have a better experiment on the connection of the earth.

It's about a diode splitter transformer from an old TV with which I generate high voltage and discharge the energy over a spark gap.

When I connect the earth to the negative side minus the spark gap arcing increases sharply to the number in the same time, without the extra energy being applied.

I find that very interesting that over the earth apparently extra energy is sucked in.

Personally, I find it very dangerous to work with these voltages, and spark gaps are not my cup of tea since it produces ozone and is not exactly health promoting. laughing.
