Do I understand that you are using a single diode in the old Tv transformer circuit to rectify a dc spark, rather than a full wave diode bridge?
Is it OK to use a fwd circuit, and still get the efficiency you are seeing?

Hi Warren, this is a diode split transformer (DST) in which are already installed diodes so the transformer can only deliver DC pulses. It has already been a modern transformer for television sets.
