coil banger , xenon strobe light , poor mans thyratron all you need are the right values and coil design and it keeps flashing forever .....

Norm,
right, just feeding the L1 of a coil with the rectified negative does not make it happen in a sustained manner so we do need something else. I speculate the magnetic quench is one answer which you proved. Do you know which Tesla patent or drawing has the horn gap magnet?
These things are elusive then when they show up all the gear gets toasted so their appearance is bittersweet so far.
I have not determined if for my experiments an all in one approach is better or rather to separate the transmitter and receiver like the Magnifying transmitter, in other words two separate grounds or a single one.
Also have not yet defined the concept of the magnetostrictive material in a flux circuit with a perm magnet for energy harvest, do you know about this?
It would be nice if these thyratrons could support higher frequencies but the pulse width is much more important anyways and for this they are fast and clean.

BTW! Tesla's magnetic horn gap was best method the eliminate any ring in the DC (negative) shots that make the longitudunal wave (radiant energy). Remember in my experiment with the Tesla Fire, I had reversed my HVDC power supply diodes so to output cathode (negative) output. X-ray tubes use anode (positive) supply.

Thanks! Mick & Kone, for now you are getting the picture of Neutral Spike and how difficult it is to capture it!

Kone,
I am working with the ground return so there is the extra energy not just from the additional in the coil collapse but from the neutral spike Norm is on to. It is elusive because it requires a solid negative pulse for that huge power return strike just like lighting. With positive lightening there is no return strike. The return mucks up everything silicon so no wonder it has been completely engineered around. It's difficult to get solid negative with high voltage as the oscillations provide as you know the counter field so the proper neg polarity to input of a coil doesn't cut it but is a good start. This is why Tesla was using magnetic to fraction out the negative traveling wave which is what he referred to as radiant. I am sure certain materials also contribute to a more pure charge one way or the other just like with static charges. We just have to learn to use the proper materials in our coils for the expected outcomes.

Hi Mick

This what I found with pulsed dc flyback and backemf recovery circuits....something big is going on with same pulse width as primary, but delayed in time as like echo ( about 5 degrees delay you have to experiment to find it perfect)
This the exact time and pulse width to extract power and do it in reverse polarity as primary (should be anyways since belief is fly back mixed using time with backemf opposin9g firce)
Fill big cap at this time after rectifying...might help might confuse and distract don't worry just my two cents.
