Warren,

I thought it was some advanced Nazi design or something.  Always
surprising how nature prefers finesse over force.  Those industrial
neighborhoods are great for amazing loft space though now days someone
would probably narc you out for living there with our modern cultural
revolution going on.  It was nice when people minded their own business
instead of being "politically" active morons.  Of course back then there
were the occasional busybodies but not a wholesale encouragement from
grade school of narcing out ones parents.

I wonder what that space runs now.  Before you became a SFx guy what
were you doing for cash while building the schooner? 

I don't know what an armature growler test machine is.  Sounds as if it
is something to test the heating/overheating of armature windings.

Most degaussers are just a coil of wire wrapped around a low reluctance
high coercivity pole piece.  Just surprising you could leave it plugged
in all day and it did not fizzle out.
