TodayI found anelegant and simple way to prove my theory on the source of
theNEUTRALSPIKE. I was working ina nursing homeinstalling some simple
buzzerson the dooralarm system and was testing and tuning the sound level
ofthe audio output (theloudness of the buzz) when I got a shock that
nearlytook me right off theladder. Now this buzzeris powered by 24V AC
andyou can't get ashock out of 24VAC but when you consider the SPIKE
PHENONENONit isawsome. This buzzer ismade byEDWARDS, called a LUNGEN
BUZZER,CAT. NO15-2G5 24 V AC 60 HZ. Isuggest all thatare interested in
duplicatingthefollowing experiment, go to yourlocal electrical supply
houseand get thisparticular model for ithas featuresthat are ideal for
thepurpose ofproducing NEUTRAL SPIKES. Thisbuzzeris constructed so as
bothsides of the24V AC is floating (insulated) with the solid steel (not
laminated)coreis grounded to theframe or metal case. Thesolid steel
coreis of very mild steel which agravates the production of spike
potential. Remember I said you need to think backwards? Yes we want a
magneticcorewhich has the most horible spikeproducingcharacteristics.
Ifthere is anengineer out there who could suggest an ideal materialfor
thisapplication,by all means speak up for I would love input and
participationinthis project. I brought home a newbuzzer and hooked it
upto a standard 24VAC step-down transformer and attached my multimeter
(Fluke87)meter withone lead (black ground) to the case ofthe buzzer and
usedthe red lead to test thepotential on the two buzzerterminals. With
24VAC running thebuzzer I measured over 2000V coming out of the iron core
ofthe buzzer. What isinteresting is the fact that with the adjusting
screwI could vary the voltage output by changing the frequency of the
buzzercontacts.Now to build a similar device that willenable me to
exploreapossible resonant region that may exist related to this
phenomenon. I am willing to bet thatthere willprove to be a definite
relationshiptoinductance/impedance of the coil and stray capacitance that
maybe involved inthe simple circuit. ThereforeI will belooking for a
pointofresonance that will maximize the spikeoutput. Before the TESLA
COILbuilders outthere jump in and say itis a simplevoltage multiplying
basedon impedanceratio, well I only haveone coil (nosecondary). Joel,

Counton me for confirmationof this. About the sametime that I uploaded
COILBAK,I also uploadedCOILUNIT, which is a 12VDC relay, energized
throughitsnormally closed contacts, so that it would open/close
continuouslyatvery close to itsaggregate resonance, just like the old
vibratorsthat theyused in car radios to produce AC for the vacuum tube
radios. They never lasted too longas they would beatthemselves to death,

delays,so it is not an above-unity device, whichleads to the"cranky"
