Warren & Sven!  Regarding capacitors (condenser) (Leyden Jars) I had
opportunity to talk to Ken Shoulders (RIP) at New Energy Conference,
Denver back in 1995. I asked him what kind of power supply he used to
charge his discharge caps to do the charged cluster experiments. He said
he charged the caps with an electrostatic machine since what you are
doing is potentialize the plates of the cap with HVDC to displace the
electrons in the dielectric.  The reason that Leyden Jars carry such a
huge amount of power is in the thick (1/4 inch) crown glass (optic clear
glass) that has a huge electron displacement.  The modern capacitors
have very thin film dielectrics and the old technology has been lost.
Most people (Most on here) do not know how a condenser (capacitor)
really works.  Take the three pail experiments  back in the old day!
You have an outer pail (conductor) with a positive charge (+) a middle
pail (dielectric, glass) and an inner pail (conductor) negative charge
(-).   Charge the apparatus up with HV electrostatics. take it apart and
you find no charge on the components.  put it back together and the
original charge is present!  This proves that the HV potential is stored
within the dielectric by electron displacement.  this is very old stuff
done by Faraday way back when.   If you have a very thick dielectric
like a good Leyden Jar there is a lot of power available here!  I would
make condensers of soda lime glass (water clear with no metals) for my
energy storage that you recover from Neutral Spike experiments. These
could be flat plate stacks with thin foil conductors and 1/8th inch
thick glass.  Do not worry about the HV aspects since this is the
break-over limits of your caps.   Sure they will hold a 500KV charge
(properly designed) but you are working at 1500VDC.
