Warren,

Your well casing should be optimal as long as you are using a battery to
drive the system that way besides allowing the spike to work is unlikely
to create an odd ground loop that overloads the well motor.  Think of
the well motor like a bird on a wire when line is fully floated from
load as in the battery example.  Electricians still go to seminars on
ground loops as some areas the differential between two points burns
things out so they learn to ground everything from a single point.  I am
convinced this "ground loop" problem is really Norms neutral spike
causing a current change between two areas of different electrical
density such as between free soil and a mineral strata or mineral
metals. Current only appears between differentials.
