Single phase motor problem

Hi GuysI am working on the flywheel.I have managed to get it up to full speed using a 1 hp single phase 120 volt 3200 rpm ac motor, with the generator connected also by belt.I had to use a Lovejoy sliding motor mount under the motor, letting the belt slip for quite a long time as the flywheel comes up to speed. It is a fairly large diameter 100 lb flywheel.So far there is no load on the generator, as I have not put dc to the slip rings from my power supply , a variac, and rectifier.My question concerns the panel breakers. They are 20 amps, and have been been blowing them. It is very marginal power to the stone barn, at best.Can I use heavier capacitors, or should I use a higher hp motor?I have yet to switch on the generator rotor magnet, until I get everything under
control, both mechanically and electrically. The flywheel goes at a very scary speed, perhaps2000 rpm or more.There is a bit of vibration which I have been working on. It is getting better as I improve the balance of the wheel.Everything needs lock washers, and so on.I also have a 3hp and a five hp I can try, if I take them off my air compressors.Ideas?Cheers Warren
