Thank goodness, I have a couple of fast and highpower diodes as powerblock unfortunately slow for 50 hz applications. Maybe you can also switch diodes in parallel to get a low resistance. Greetings Sven

the resistance of the xenon tube is alike in a thyratron , that is why i call xenon tubes the poor mans thyratron ...
anyway you can use a lone scr but is more susceptible at destruction by EMP
on the diode 1kv and as fast as i can get with the lowest internal resistance ...

I still have the circuit. An indication at which inductance we have to look at high impedance ignites the xenon tube only weakly. What performance does the xenon tube have at least? Ok a series of experiment to do .....
flash unit with a coil , remove reverse diode flash , put reverse diode flash
predicted result diode in will flash more faster more intense .
diode out will flash slower a bit less intense .......
that means you have recovered collapse energy spike and return it to the
capacitor .....
