HectorI just got it mostly assembledThe flywheel is firmly mounted and is good. It turns very freely.The 1/2 hp bench grinder motor has a hard time. It just doesn't have the torque needed to get off the starting capacitor to be able to get up to its full speed.It got too dark and cold to keep at it tonight, but I am thinking that I could put a bored out hockey puck in a 7.5 inch side grinder and perhaps press against the rim of the flywheel while at the same time use the grinder motor which is connectedby vee belt to the flywheel.Another approach is a 3 hp DC motor to drive it. I could use a heavy variac and an equally heavy diode, and steadily raise the voltage and get the flywheel up to speed, perhaps?The other end of my challenge is the generator head.It turns fine but does not put out the voltage. It was working fine when taken out of service twenty -five years ago.It is a 2.6 kw Troy -Bilt 3600rpm 120, 240 volt , 60 hz unit.How to jolt it back to life?I had this happen to me with a portable genset once after a lightning storm.It was dead as a nit for producing power though the motor was just running fine.Cheers Warren

maybe the idea is to make a synchronous motor out of it wired to 240 and run on 120VAC synchronized to line then increase the excitation until it takes power factor to a leading value ...or best low watts .. and use it as a MOTOR generator ...(autonomous)

Buggering around with belts, and pulleys, should likely kill the day getting everything mounted, but I will keep you posted.Any suggestions from one and all are welcome.Cheers Warren

Remember will it be several poles or one freaking pole the method is the same ,,, in making any brushed generator into an original EV gray motor be in in attraction or repulsion . RV is extra to the mix ,,, ( its the seasoning )
