 This sounds like it would fit in with hectors idea of conversion of gensets to OU
 

 He mentioned the concept in different postings but none I could find with any in depth.
 

 I said the same thing thinking in RV terms about seperating the field windings and using a cap he said no cap use a VFD or Konemotor it.
 

 That thing sounds big enough to power your whole place if one were able to get the OU thing happening.
 

 Main issue is always going to be the load and how to get a steady impedance to drive.  Something like resistance heaters or light bulbs are going to be somewhat steady but do change with temperature.
 

 I think the Lockridge device worked like this and powered tungsten bulbs during WW2.  Allegedly the guy sold them locally to friends and neighbors and came to a gruesome end.  Anyhow the unit seems to have been ok driving the bulbs if non technical people could use them.
 

 Do you have a VFD for induction motors?  If so just connect this to the starter terminals and put an electric resistance heater or a bunch of quartz worklamps on the other side and measure the amps in and out while varying the speed.  Perhaps at the right speed magic will happen!
