This is a prime example of Acedumbia. 

 

 First they imagine a new possibility and call it a Theory.
 Then they dream up an apparatus to prove the theory and then they hope to retire on a Nobel Pension. 

 

 Man only tends to believe that which his imagination can devise an apparatus to detect.  MerLynn.
