Warren,I was thinking you should build a super light 16 shrouded wing wind generator instead of chemtrailed daylight solar panels.James McCanny is a developer "wing generator", google it, so give him a wink if needed.it's BW ducted fan made into engine. Your wind up north must be intense. A Great excuse for being a utility frugal with surplus power.

DaveI built and used wind generators for over twenty years aboard my schooner. They don't do well in hail, or incredibly strong winds.Mine were simple, and cheap  and comparing with a fleet of 1000 boats at anchor in St Martin's, located in the trade winds, on the marine radio net, mine was putting out as many amps as anybody's in that fleet, if not more.It depended on a prop made quickly out of a stock clear 2x4 , 60" long.It run whisper quiet in all wind strengths, and except for the before mentioned hail, was just as good as that circle of wind could deliver. You can only get the energy that is there in that pressure differential, although this was a two blade high aspect ratio prop, only a one blade might be betterOne has to consider wing tip vortex drag and Reynolds number, but it really is nothing a good glider might do already. It gets down to the amount of lift you develop in an average wind speed, rather than either extreme, for good practice. This is a windy place here on this farm.We are on a high knoll with a clear run for miles in all directions except the south that is heavily wooded near the Saint Lawrence river.Wind is primarily from the West, with all of Lake Ontario, a clear run down the Saint Lawrence valley. My wife and I have considered wind, and finally, after consideration, rejected it.Both of us have had considerable experience with wind generators.I really think we can do better. At present, now, with the new heavy steel roof on the big barn. We have plenty of room for the 20 kilowatts of solar panels we picked up for scrap. They are Canadian made, and only three years old.It might help with the horrendous electricity bill.I have to now see about storage.I have a 40 foot high reinforced cast concrete silo. I just got 6× 1000 liter plastic cube water tanks  that I am putting inside to catch rain water for helping irrigate the yard, as they will be plumbed into the gutters and downspouts from the barn roofs. It has been estimated we should get 6000 litres in 15 to 20 minutes of rain. At the present time, the rest will be diverted runoff. It has been a rainy spring , so far.I am shocked at the price of the aluminium extruded rails for fitting the solar panels. They will cost far more than the panels, I got.I am working on a different solution.I also don't fancy wobbling about on a high pitched slick steel roof at my age, 3 and a half stories up!I hired some local farm lads to put the steel roof on. They are doing an amazing job, but are both built like Mack Trucks, and head, and shoulders, taller than me."Where do you want this 300lb barn beam?" Not even a little problem.Less trouble than starting the Cat excavator, done!I think when it comes to energy, we can better. That is why we are in this group.I am working on the Samsung motor hop up, to see if this puppy can fly. If it really can produce 18.5 hp from 700 watts, well, duh, what can you see wrong here?It is coming from hot rod drone racers, sailors, and back woods genius playing with these old washing machine motors, tweaking them with Arduino fed DC signals in sequence, at high voltage. They are not that easy to put together, but hey, so far, nothing has been, since the Bedini School Girl.I don't know if this will work, or not, but you just can't trust the Internet any longer. You have to simply build one yourself, and hope your craftsmanship is up to the task. You can make it work, or it dosen't work,  or you have done a lousy build, but you have to give it a try.Next, I am going back to Don Smith,  as Kurt has gotten beyond my impasse that I hit with that device.
Cheers Warren
