Washer motor

JamesThat is a Samsung washer drive motor available on EbayThe rotor and stator are sometimes sold separately. There is no bearing or shaft with it. You have to cobble that up yourself, though there is a group in Europe that are getting all the parts specially made as a cooperative effort.
I happened to have a 2.6kw generator head kicking around with an end flange that made it easy to mount the motor stator on.Then the brake drum shaped rotor has to attach to the generator shaft so it turns very steady, straight, and smoothly centered.It is a bit of an awkward female spline, that comes on the Samsung rotor, but an engineer in Sweden removed this plastic insert, and machined an aluminium disc hub to securely mount with three studs.He hasn't tested it yet under power, but it sure looks good.The trick is to apply very fast radio frequency DC pulses, at a very precise place in the rotation to the three phases in sequence. These pulses are 400 volts, and about one amp, but very brief.Unverified reports claim 700 watts input delivers 18.5 hp output or 10. 5 kw 220 ac.The only way to verify it is build it yourself and try it, which I am doing.I think it exploits that explosive repulsion between coil inductors and permanent magnets, we have had reports of before.Doug is exploring this in his motor designs.This may have been behind the voodoo in the Gray motor too.In any case, this is appearing to be practical, until I test it, and find out just what it is.Cheers Warren
