Watch the ball of water in the sky form eddy currents in its atmosphere and the plasma discharge increase. Lightning comes from water. See Lord Kelvins ‘Thunderstorm’. Sunspots are linked to the planets Fields. They influence the eddy currents. 

We see powerfull magnetic eddy currents of the earths field as hurricanes. The magnetic nature of ‘everything’ and in this case the air we breath dances to the Earths Fields. We also get Lightning from this higher water region. 
The planets and their Fields effect Life on Earth. We call this Astrology.
