When I was a little kid, about 75 years ago my Grandmother has a little 
weather house! A little wood house with two doors with an angel figure 
in one door and a witch in the other door. When to weather was going to 
be fair the angel figure would come out the door and when the weather 
turned bad, the witch came out her door. It worked very simply via the 
spider thread that did the twisting based on the relative humidity.   
BTW, A cat gut strand does the same thing. Now these "brain childs" make 
the discovery known since the late 30s. GEE WIZ!
