my Teacher said that no two lines of magnetic flux can ever cross.  
(Axiom).    But with the evolution of our knowledge of magnetic flux we 
see how the crossing really occurs via the annihilation event caused by 
Alfvin wave compression of anti-parallel lines, then re connection with 
the release of a huge amount of energy in the form of photons, the basic 
constituents of magnetic flux.  In old physics books, magnetic flux 
tubes of force between the sun and earth were discussed by which the 
earth received the energy necessary for the maintenance of the core 
temperature.
