NormanPerhaps a silly notion, (as I have plenty, )but there is this perfectly solid cast concrete silo about forty feet high.I have just managed to get 80 Canadian made solar panels for scrap, even though they are only 3 years old. The big barn with the rebuild, ( the new steel roof waiting for spring) faces South, perfect to install the panels on, since the structure is all new underneath, just completed. This "tower" could replace batteries along with a vortex turbine, and tank, perhaps, since it is currently unemployed, yet in excellent shape.
Winter and water is a big trouble, with freezing temperatures.I used gycol in the stone barn system, which, with the heat pump, is doing a good job now.I had my doubts, as it took forever to get the concrete slab up to temperature, at -17c, and cold.It is fine inside now.Cheers Warren

Hi Warren
Perhaps that 40ft tall silo you could create giant liquid barttery thing Bart knows all about it.
Not sure how to keep it from freezing however..
