Norm,
According to bible prophecy nothing will stop the UN becoming the one world government in the near future.  God is going to use it to destroy false religion by putting His one thought into the hearts and minds of the political rulers to carry out their one thought to give their power and authority to the UN to destroy false religion.
This is the first part of God's war of Armageddon and a time of trouble that the world has not seen before. When false religion has been completely destroyed and no trace of it is left on earth then God will destroy the UN political system in the second part of His war of Armageddon.
Then His Kingdom Government will bring the earth back to a paradise for people to live forever on.
