Hi Warren,
Is there a reason why nobody use a heavy copper disc as flywheel?
Of course copper is expensive, but thats true for energie too.
Since you accelerate a 90 lb flywheel anyway? As N wheel yoou would not only have
kinetic energie stored, but a activ power source. A couple hundreds Ampere for sure.

Getting on with the looper, I have the flywheel setup with a 90lb flywheel on a steel stand, in good bearings, able to take any motor, and drive any generator, with a broad selection of v belts, and pulleys.( I prefer the Browning type system of hub and pulley attachment with tapered keyed hubs, that change very easy, off, and on, shafts.)
The washing machine motor I have, has the fine ribbed type belt, pulley.
