James, if you think that a bummer, how about  canadian laws?  You need a  permit 
to buy or posses a body armor. Basicly it says you have to stay readyl to get shot!
Now,  Thats Patriotic. or actually pareticly  idiotic becouse nobody protest. We are polite!
