Sven,

Let me know if you ever run into any vintage professional audio gear
being scrapped!  Not the cheap old chip junk but the good stuff that
uses audio transformers and discrete transistors or vacuum tubes.

Sven You have always wanted a garden ornament. Why not a 15 KW electric motor? Was it 3 phase?Sometimes it is good to have a friend with a truck, for such emergencies.Tow trucks with the hook on the back will move it for the usual car fee. Free, is not always really free. You have to sweat for it, in a lot of cases. It might have made a powerful Hector Rotoverter, which you know can't be bad to have.Cheers Warren

Mostly I search on ebay Germany there you can get a lot of old industrial electronics, what is the right is always the question. Greetings Sven

Who collects electronic junk in Germany? You need to get to know where stuff that is surplus,  goes, and who has it. Learn their names, and visit them often. I am sure you have these weird eccentric guys, there in Germany, too, like we have in Canada. It may be a group of fringe ham radio hobbiests, or just equipment freaks. In my film work, we always need what we called electronic "gorp": stuff that looked complex, and had shadow catching details, useful for background fill in science fiction films.Oh those electrical panels in space stations always seem to catch fire, being as they seem, full of 1950's era obsolete military, industrial garbage. That is how I scored my high voltage, high amperage silver/ mica capacitor, from the dross of pallets of this kind of thing.Once you contact one guy, that person will know more people to send you to.Get in your car and start driving, visiting guys in person.Cheers WarrenSent from Yahoo Mail on Android

We substituted the planar, silver mica capacitors 680pf into the mini MRA very successfully. They mimic the piezo in an electronic circuit!

Sven,

Anytime one adds more capacitors Q drops as ESR increases so it works better if one can use the piezo for both functions, if possible.  Many capacitors are also piezoelectric materials such as the mica and COG.  Lower frequencies do not matter as much.

Hi Sven

Yes I have used the little piezo transformers and have also used disks in a tank circuit acting as the capacitance.   On the transformers I was able to get the most gain by using sine waves as they like a clean signal without distortion components being of high Q at the designed frequency. Something I need to get back to in order to determine more facts.

Hi Warren, I can get old parts that are no longer needed from my company, recently we scrapped a 15 kW asynchronous motor unfortunately too heavy to take it with us. laughing. Mostly I search on ebay Germany there you can get a lot of old industrial electronics, what is the right is always the question. Greetings Sven

SvenWho collects electronic junk in Germany?

Not yet, I have to get such a silva Mica capacitor first or more because they have very very small capacity values.

http://www.rexresearch.com/1hodomra/05-5-20.htm       Joel & I became great friends with Greg and it was one of his Mini MRAs that tested 256X over unity and was submitted to Patent Office as final affidavit!  Greg (RIP) was an Engineer at RCA Corp.   Sven, this is the use of silver mica caps as piezo substitute!

Hi Norman, I would like to try a Silva Mica capacitor as additional capacity to the mp oil filled capacitors around the q value increase if it is possible have already stable values over q 30. extraction about diodeplug, search I still a way the scrs later after the peak trigger, I think through the phase shift has the classic phase control a problem, I still think about a inductor after the ignition energy something later after supplies. We substituted the planar, silver mica capacitors 680pf into the mini MRA very successfully. They mimic the piezo in an electronic circuit!

Hi Mick, in other words Mica silver or Mica capacitors have the same effect as piezo materials, what is cog? Because I with low frequencies work do I need already capacities in uf area. Under Mica can I find what. Greetings Sven

Sven,

Anytime one adds more capacitors Q drops as ESR increases so it works better if one can use the piezo for both functions, if possible.  Many capacitors are also piezoelectric materials such as the mica and COG.  Lower frequencies do not matter as much.

Hi Mick, so I could try in addition to the caps piezo elements for this purpose to turn, there is there an increase of the q value or did you only with piezo worked?

Hello Mick,

Many thanks for the hints, unfortunately I can not find distribution in Germany or I have to search again.

Have you ever included piezo elements in a reactive circuit?

Hello everyone, is it possible to use resonant capacitors in the case of FR transformer in addition to switching piezo elements in parallel or do the thin elements hold over 400V?

The MRA of Norman works with a large piezo element, unfortunately I can not get something like this or I search wrong via google.

Hi Mick
I have 1977 Marshall amp.first year they were sold solid state got it free had blown power transistors have schematic and extra transistors.got it to work for two minutes then the transistors blew again..also have two JBL lansing D 120s with re-cone kits halfway through re coning them...if you are ever in Seattle you can have all for free...also konehead rotating speaker cabinets used by Fuckedtones have a few...

Hi Mick
Just for fun here is the konehead rotating soeaker cabinets that create the fuckedtone guitar sound this kickwheel version
https://youtu.be/Iqeh5fVDDFs
Wow Doug, you're a great player, cool JM riff!

Now I know why it's the kickwheel version, very cool.

Kone,

Nice speakers, but what is halfway through re-coning mean?

Marshall likely did not have the concept of solid state down by then so
the power supply is probably unregulated.  No prob with valves just get
close with resistors, there are hundreds of volts of swing.  Those
transistors don't like over voltage on the rails.  Also the old
electrolytics need to be checked as they may be passing pulses instead
of smoothing.

Most of the guitar amp issues stem from the power supply or the output
section losing the ground reference.

I appreciate the offer, while space is limited those speakers fit the
category of good vintage audio, a transistor Marshall not really.  Are
you coming back to the states or considering becoming a permanent
resident of Belarus?  Interesting Svet is not into the states, most
Russians love it here and unlike most other foreign cultures integrate
with Americans.
I love South America but find after awhile I am truly a Norte Americano
and enjoy the easy access to the marketplace.  I can't stand the insane
tarrifs down there and in most of the rest of the world on automobiles
and motorcycles.  In the US a really nice used car can be had between
2-5k and over there it's 10-12k and a falling apart shitbox is about
3k.  Hope they don't bend you over on transportation there.

Did you want to put Norms presentation on youtube or should I put up an
account and go for it?

Hi Mick
I have others with a dc pancake motor down there and a belt and battery and pwm. to spin it...( norm sent.me the motor years ago pmi brand) get the right frequency of spin it is so cool playing those mahavishnu drone loopy riffs you can make people cry...for fuckedtone stage shows bikini hippy girls operate the kickwheel speakers however truth is the Fuckedtones never show.up for gigs since that is way too commercial and would be selling out as well haha
