I read that the solar observatory shot down was because the Chinese were spying on nearby white sandsissle yest.site using the ahtennae array at the observatory to pickup the information they wanted.
The open skies treaty is another subject not so related to solar observatory shutdowns as basically Russia and the USA don't want the other to fly spyplanes over each other's territory anymore.especially as emp weapons could be stashed into the big spyplanes by either side.

Many years ago I saw a article about the Navy having to chase off a Russian
ship off the coast of California because they were firing hi power
microwave beams inland .now days the difference is they have moved next
door or down the block . people better wake up or there going to be the
only people on the block . just a matter of time . they don't need the
