JonathanWhen I was making a refrigeration system for my boat, I considered the ammonia system because of the simplicityThe reason it was ruled out was the trouble people were having with these devices in rough water in boats continuing to operate properly, since they depend on the liquid to flow down rather than being shaken, and subject to centrifugal forces.In a stationary situation they seem to work fine.Here, near the Thousand Islands ,in Ontario, there are some cottages on islands without electricity and use propane to run their refrigerators.In Gananoque, there is a very large RV company , buying, and selling RV equipment and of course a big yard full of RVs of every type, new, and used.I expect there might be an absorption refrigerator available in such a place. I haven't stopped in there, but have been told that is a very good store selling things that might also be good for boats.
